In a move reminiscent of Kaunda’s UNIP days, the government of the republic of Zambia has announced that the Kwacha is to be rebased thereby knocking off three zeros from the currency. The government also announced that coins will be reintroduced for lower denominations.   Read the Full Story

The Private Sector Development Association (PSDA) has said if the Bank of Zambia created a regulation that mining industry export earnings should sit in a Zambian bank for a minimum of 3 days, this action would create a cash float of over K300 billion in the banking system per day.
